I recently purchased a used prototype CR board of yours.
length 181.5cm, widest point 56cm, tail 45cm.
four fins set-up. It came with 6six fins (4x 15cm 2 canted, 2x 8.5cm)
I am curious about getting longer fins. Would it be possible to use straight fins or is it a must to cant the front fins? If it must be canted what degree would be optimal?
Hi Scott,
You can use straight fins on the board no problem, it just won’t go upwind as well but it will still perform . That board can probably use up to 30 cm front fins with 27 back fins. Normal cant angle nowadays is around 3 to 4 degrees. We used to run 7 degrees on that board model on the front fins. Damien Leroy won the 2010 La Ventana event on the same model board with the fins I described. The fins you have are way to small for that board now to perform really well.
Aloha,
Alex
Hi Alex,
Thanks for the information. This was more helpful the fin manufacturers answers.
What manufacturer would make that fin set up and at what price?
Do you think Damien Leroy would have a extra set to sell?
Forgot to ask.
front fin 30cm cant 7degree rear 27cm = full race set up
front fin 28cm cant 5degree rear 25cm = more all round recreational set up?
I am talking with Makani Fins out of Quebec,Canada to use their – AUKU fin.
Any suggestion on the shape of fin? race, free race, slalom fins, weed version of these?
