Here is a brief explanation of how I think you should try and ride a raceboard from what I have noticed first time riders do at the race yesterday on Oahu at Kailua.
I was watching a few first time riders and their stance and posture to try and figure out of couple tips to help them. I saw that they wanted to put way to much weight on the back of the board which ended up getting the nose to high in the air! This makes the board ride way too squirely (turning to much) and out of control.

Tip# 1)So I told one of the riders to get more weight forward and not ride the tail .. This really helped him out and within 15 to 20 minutes he was starting to get it under control.
Once you start getting the board under control your next lesson is to:

Tip #2) try and get the board flat and not ride the windward rail down like a twin tip or regular kiting. Think of trying to get the board to heal over to Leeward instead of to windward. Once you start mastering this, the board will start really accelerating.
I try to explain it like trying to feel the front fin on the leeward side and the leeward rail. Once you start to get this feeling, you can start to trust it and really let the board start hauling ass!!
Tip # 3) Fins are critical to being able to trust your board and let it fly. I recommend starting with the short fat low aspect fins. CNC fins are better than hand foiled. If you are getting some hand foiled fins, make sure they are good ones! I have gotten some hand foiled fins that are virtually unrideable once I am over 22 knots of board speed. They are much cheaper but if you can’t ride the board with them, why get them..?
